The camera stays there with a white silicone case and USB fan to try to keep it cool, both hanging on a dual mount attached to the canopy via the GoPro suction cup mount. You can view some posts about it below.
The setup works great. Except that 1) my passengers get some free
ventilation and 2) the fan causes audio whine in the recording. So I
wanted to use a smaller and different fan to reduce the wind on my passenger, reduce the footprint of the whole setup and possibly reduce the whine.
So, I snagged a tiny, high RPM USB fan (no longer available and I've since changed to this one) and made a mount for it out of some 1/8" aluminum, painting my mount red of course, to match the motif of the aircraft.
The footprint is smaller, the whine is reduced, my passengers don't get "winded" and the airflow across the camera remains effective.
